BEEHIVE CHEESE PROUDLY ANNOUNCES B CORP CERTIFICATION; PLEDGES TO USE BUSINESS AS FORCE FOR GOOD

Pioneers in Rubbed Rind Cheese Category Earns Socially Responsible Business Recognition

Uintah, UT, April 2, 2023 - Celebrating their 18th anniversary, Beehive Cheese, an award-winning family-owned creamery known for pioneering the rubbed rind technique, has been certified as a B Corporation (B Corp). This recognition furthers the brand’s commitment toward operating its business as a force for good.

The B Corp verification process measures a company’s social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. To become a Certified B Corporation, companies undergo a rigorous and holistic review of the impact of their operations and business model on their workers, customers, communities and environment. B Corp certification is based on a vision of creating a community of companies dedicated to redefining what it means to be successful.

“We believe that as Beehive Cheese continues to grow, we have an even greater responsibility to use our business as a force for good. We continue to hold true to our core values, support the wellbeing of our staff, have awareness of our environmental impact, and value our vendors as much as we do our customers,” says Beehive Cheese President, Britton Welsh, “Our goal is to provide a place for each member of our team to be engaged in meaningful work. We aim to ‘make friends with cheese’ with our customers and every single person involved in our family company.”

Now one of the seven US artisan cheesemakers to become certified, out of the roughly 1000 cheesemakers nationwide, Beehive Cheese is joining a movement of over 6200 B Corps in 84 countries and 156 industries globally. There are currently 2100 B Corp certified businesses in the United States, and only 12 of these companies are based in Beehive Cheese’s home state of Utah.

Beyond this new honor, Beehive Cheese was founded as a business with a goal of positively impacting both society and the environment; they are a Benefit LLC (BLLC). Supporting employees with full health care, paid parental leave and a work-life balance, Beehive Cheese is a business who believes in boosting the wellbeing of their team and the economic vitality of their community. More than 80% of raw goods come from local producers and farms, with 60% of expenses spent with local, independent suppliers. The brand encourages community service of all employees and offers paid time off for community service within our industry. Beehive Cheese also contributes 5% of profits or more to local charities through cash and in-kind donations.
